JWOC training

On Wednesday and Thursday before Khmer New Year Leakena and Robyn held a presentation session for 16 girls from an NGO called Journeys Within Our Cambodia (JWOC).
The presentations were for students of JWOC in their early twenties. The presentations included Safe Sex, Pregnancy, Labour and Birth, Postnatal Care, Breastfeeding and Contraception.

At the end of the presentation the girls were all given Days for Girls packs from New Hope Cambodia. The girls were very happy and felt that they are now well informed about these subjects.

Thank you to Robyn, Konthea from JWOC and Leakena from New Hope Cambodia for being a translator.

Built a New House

Mrs. Soth Nourn sponsor family at NHC. She’s a widow and has 41 years old. She lives with her daughter. She doesn’t have knowledge that why she can’t get good job. She can earns only 2$ or 3$ for a day. She had been living in her structure for 15 years, the roof to her home had semi collapsed, and she slept on an old wooden floor, next to her stove, with little more than a bag of possessions to her name. With the rainy season approaching she was in serious need of some help. Can you imagine her daily life?

But luckily now she has a new house that built by Bamboo team and NHC staffs. To change one lady’s life in 3 days is something that they can be proud of and remember for the rest of their lives. Not only did they pay for this lady to have a new home, they built it from the ground up. Moreover, the final day Bamboo team went to a local market and donated some house warming gifts, which included a new ground mat, a new plump pillow, a luxury hammock and a brand spanking new mosquito net. She felt really happy to get all of these.

We would like to say thank you so much for Outreach Department, staffs at NHC and especially, Bamboo team spent your time, money and work hard even you work under the sun but you still smile and powerful to do these work. We are proud all of you.
